Bringing Easter Joy to Our LAPD PALS Kids

Updated: Apr 11, 2020

On this Good Friday, I am especially thankful for our community partners here in CD6.

This morning, with the amazing support of LAPD Mission Community Police Station and Captain Natalie Cortez, we delivered 80 Easter baskets filled with books, Easter eggs, and candy to our Mission PALS kids. When Captain Cortez and I partnered to begin this incredible youth program, we knew it would be our responsibility to ensure these kids know that their community loves and supports them in good times and bad.

Due to the pandemic, the kids have not been able to attend their after-school PALS program that had transformed North Hills Community Park into a safe and nurturing space for them and their families.

So the Captain and I, our officers and my CD6 staff, worked together to bring a smile to these kids' faces for an Easter Sunday that will be anything but normal. Today reminded us all that a little goes a long way and we hope these kids - and kids everywhere - can return to their schools and PALS program soon!
