Young Women's Advisory Council

This year, as part of my ongoing effort to develop the next generation of women leaders, I am launching the City of Los Angeles' first-ever Young Women's Advisory Council.

I am always looking for ways to engage young women and nurture their leadership potential. The Advisory Council is an opportunity for girls from across the city to come together and advise me on the issues that matter to them.

Beginning later this year, the Young Women's Advisory Council will meet in the evening, four times per year.

Each applicant must:

  • be a resident of the City of Los Angeles;
  • be between the ages of 13-18;
  • have demonstrated leadership on her school campus or in her community.
  • commit to attend four meetings per year.

All young women, including transgender women and gender nonconforming youth, are encouraged to apply. Applications must be submitted online using the form below.

Applications should also include a letter of recommendation from a non-relative. Please e-mail the letter as a PDF to my Policy Director, Arcelia Arce, at

I look forward to reading your applications and hope to see you on the inaugural Young Women's Advisory Council.
