Women's March Los Angeles

On the 21st, approximately 750,000 women and the men who support them marched in the streets of Los Angeles.  I was so proud to take my daughter with me and to be joined by my husband and friends at the march.

Womens_March_speaking.JPGCalled the “Women’s March,” the event was an opportunity for women from Los Angeles and surrounding areas to gather and show strength in numbers.  We were united in our declaration that women’s voices matter in our electoral process, and we won’t go back to the days when women were denied the right to make their own healthcare and reproductive choices.

I had the opportunity to speak at the main stage outside of City Hall, and you can watch my speech online. It was an historic moment, and as the only woman on the City Council, it was particularly impactful to have an opportunity to welcome people to City Hall.

We don’t know what the next few years will bring with the changes in Washington, but residents of Council District 6 should know that I won’t stop fighting for them, for our families and our community.  We will defend women and girls, and we will stand up for the diversity that makes Los Angeles such a great place to live.group_pic.JPG
