Saying Goodbye to a Devoted Friend and Public Servant

It was with a heavy heart that we bid a fond City farewell to Ramon Barajas, who retired from his post as Assistant General Manager of the Department of Recreation and Parks after 37 years of service to the City. Ramon started with the department in 1982! I know that my District will miss him greatly because, as a Valley boy raised in Van Nuys, Ramon has always taken great pride in his work and has worked with me to improve and increase the supply of parks in our neighborhoods.

I cannot help but believe that Ramon’s passion for making Council District Six greener and more friendly to our families comes from his experience growing up here. That commitment has paid off in a big way. Just this past year, Ramon joined me for no less than four ribbon cuttings at new playground facilities in the District. I can tell you that he was deeply involved and worked closely with my office to get these projects done well and on-time. We already miss him.
