L.A. leaders look to reform City's sexual harassment complaint process

There is no place for sexual harassment  in the workplace, including at the City of Los Angeles. Earlier today, City Council unanimously approved a Motion authored by Councilmember Paul Krekorian, and seconded by me, to re-examine the City’s sexual harassment policies.

Among other things, the Motion asks Personnel to look into the creation of a hotline for reporting harassment. I also requested Personnel to consult with City employees as it considers reforms. The existing process is too confusing. We need to make it easier for our employees, and the residents who interact with them, to come forward with complaints. This Motion is an important first step toward a zero-tolerance policy. You can watch my remarks from Council here:
