Keeping our Communities Clean

Last month, my Strike Team was fortunate enough to be joined by several community groups, members of law enforcement, and other departments as we worked to clean up our community. On Saturday, September 10, my Strike Team partnered with the Department of Sanitation to clean up Burbank Blvd. between Woodley and the 405 Freeway.

Working as one unit, we cleaned up debris and trash from homeless encampments, and removed abandoned items and obstacles from our roads. Meanwhile, teams from LAHSA (Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority) and the LAPD HOPE Team (Homeless Outreach and Proactive Engagement), engaged with the homeless people in the area and offered them help and services. Clean ups like these can be difficult work. That is why it makes such a difference when we all pitch in. I want to thank the Mid-Valley Family YMCA and the Van Nuys High School JROTC for their help in cleaning up Van Nuys Blvd. from Vose St. to Kitteridge St. If you would like to join us for our next clean up, let us know.
