We’ve been very busy this month cleaning-up Council District Six!
These pictures above come from a Sun Valley clean-up we held on June 28th. Along with the Sun Valley Area Neighborhood Council and Sun Valley Graffiti Busters, we were able to clean and do weed abatement along Old San Fernando Road from Tuxford St. to Sunland Blvd. We also cleaned Sunland Blvd. on and off ramps of the I-5 freeway, Crockett St., Roscoe Blvd. and surrounding alleys, totaling over 200+ bags collected!
On June 18th we did dual clean-ups in Arleta and Van Nuys! In Arleta, along with the Debell Neighborhood Watch, Northeast Graffiti Busters and the office of Congressman Tony Cardenas, we tackled the dumping and garbage accumulation in the Wingo Alley. This alley often attracts homeless encampments in an area children use to walk to-and-from school, and makes it unsafe for the kids. Though there were no homeless encampments at the time, we were able to clean-up the area to make it safe for the kids and families that rely on this walkway. In Van Nuys, we were joined by the Van Nuys CPAB, Teen CPAB, Van Nuys High School JROTC, and the missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and we cleaned the entire neighborhood surrounding Delano Park!
On June 25th my team worked with New Directions for Youth to clean up the median on Victory Blvd. They eliminated the overgrown vegetation.
Additionally, we’ve led a couple of clean ups in Panorama City, at Tobias Ave. and Chase St., as well as the median along Van Nuys Blvd. between Parthenia Ave. and Chase Street.
We’ve been really busy with neighborhood clean-ups throughout the district this last month! Thanks, as always to the LAPD and LAFD for their support when we host these neighborhood clean-ups.
