Strike Team Ride along: Picking up the streets of North Hills and Panorama City

Last year, I created the CD 6 Strike Team to confront the bulky item and trash problems in the Sixth District. In the long run, I am working with my colleagues to improve the response time for 311 and ensure that we are receiving equal access to all of our City Services but until a solution can be developed, I refuse to sit idly by. Arleta Residents Eliminate Car Sales on Local Streets

I was very proud to finally pass the ordinance to officially ban individuals from selling personal cars on certain streets in Arleta. The final ordinance included streets in other interested communities as well and prohibits vehicles with a “For Sale” signs from parking on Van Nuys Blvd. between Woodman Ave. to the I-5 freeway and Woodman Ave. between Roscoe and Van Nuys Blvd. Continue reading

Closing Illegal Marijuana Dispensaries at the Source

Prop D was passed by Los Angeles voters in 2013 to give access to medical patients to medical marijuana while preventing an inundation of marijuana dispensaries and problems that may be associated with these facilities. However since then, hundreds of medical marijuana shops that are non-compliant with Prop D have popped up around the City and in corridors such as the Van Nuys Blvd.  Continue reading

Keeping Beautiful Lake Balboa Beautiful

This week I was proud to lead the Council in a unanimous vote in support of reducing and covering the large mound of citywide reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) that has created environmental concerns in Lake Balboa. Because of this vote, the Bureau of Street Services (BSS) will cover the existing mound by December 12, 2014, continue to reduce the size of the mound and report back on a long term environmentally-sustainable solution.
