Learn more about Councilwoman Nury Martinez and the Sixth District staff in our City Hall, Van Nuys and Sun Valley offices as well as the annual Ready for Women Fellowship.
Councilwoman Martinez believes that it is essential for leaders to help build a pipeline for future women leaders. As the only woman to hold elective office in the City of Los Angeles, this responsibility is particularly important to the Councilwoman. Annually, several women are selected to join Councilwoman Martinez's "Ready for Women Fellowship." This paid fellowship gives women who have an interest in public service the opportunity to work at City Hall on varied tasks for several months. These fellows join high level meetings, develop and execute short-term projects, and have access to see the inner workings of City Hall. Two of the fellows from the first three Ready for Women Fellowships have subsequently joined Councilwoman Martinez's staff.
Born and raised in the San Fernando Valley, Councilwoman Nury Martinez has dedicated her life to improving the Sixth District and all of the Valley for the residents that enrich it.
