Addressing Homelessness in CD6

  On October 13th, I hosted a Homeless Town Hall at Rosa Parks Learning Center in North Hills.  We all know that homelessness is a serious and complex  problem in our communities, so I wanted to tackle the issue head on with residents of Council District Six.  There are no easy solutions, but my commitment is to the people who live and work in CD6, and the families and kids who walk to school on our sidewalks and play in our parks. We must have a healthy and safe environment for everyone.

Protecting CD6 From Being Over Saturated with People Living in Cars

Recently the City Council advanced an effort to allow some people to legally live out of their cars on our City streets. I have many problems with this approach, including the idea that as a City we must do better by our residents.  We shouldn’t be ok with people living in their cars.  We must find a better solution.  We also have to make sure that families don’t have to worry about strangers setting up camp on the street right outside a school, park or their homes.
